Jose Mourinho will look back at his time at Tottenham Hotspur and not enjoy it so much, having been the only club in his career where he did not win silverware.
The Special One spent 17 months in charge of the London club before his departure in April 2021, six days before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City, which they lost.
Sports Brief looks at the 10 players he signed permanently or on loan at the club and where they are now, as first analysed by Planet Football.
Players Mourinho signed at Tottenham
1. Gedson Fernandes
Mourinho loaned his compatriot Fernandes from his former club, Benfica, but after a year together, the player made only seven league appearances and returned to his parent club. He had time with Galatasaray afterwards and now plays for Besiktas.
2. Steven Bergwijn
The big Dutch winger had an excellent start to life in London after joining from PSV but soon lost his touch, which he never regained in his three years at Tottenham. He returned to his home country with Ajax in the summer of 2022 and is an integral team member.
3. Giovanni Lo Celso
The Argentine playmaker’s loan deal was made permanent under the Portuguese boss. He never really hit at Tottenham and spent two seasons on loan at Villarreal. He’s back at the club and given few opportunities by Ange Postecoglou. Per 90min, Barcelona are interested in his signature.

6. Matt Doherty
The Irish defender never settled at Spurs and admitted he was to blame for his struggles and not the manager. During his unveiling, Tottenham uploaded a cheeky video where he deleted his “Arsenal” tweets. He is back with Wolves after a short spell at Atletico Madrid.
7. Gareth Bale
The Welshman returned to the club on loan after seven years in 2020. He contributed to 19 goals during his second stint. The only season Bale didn’t win a trophy since leaving Spurs was his only season back. He retired in January.
