Harry Kane has been pivotal to Bayern Munich’s success this season, and the striker was on song again as the Bavarians eliminated Manchester United from the UEFA Champions League.
The 30-year-old forward set up Kingsley Coman 20 minutes from time to ensure the Bavarians earned a deserved 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
According to Eurosport, Copenhagen’s victory over Galatasaray means United finished at the bottom of Group A and did not even have the consolation of a place in the UEFA Europa League.
Kane’s assist against Manchester United means the Bayern Munich forward is the first player to register 30 goal involvements in all competitions across Europe's big-five leagues this season.
The England forward has scored 22 goals and created eight assists in all competitions, more than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland or Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, since signing up with the Bundesliga giants from Tottenham in the summer.
Man United set woeful UCL record
Meanwhile, Manchester United became the first English Premier League side to concede 15 or more goals in a Champions League group stage after losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford, Livescore reports.
A Kingsley Coman goal, assisted by England captain Harry Kane, ensured the Red Devils would play no further part in the competition as Erik ten Hag’s men finished bottom of Group A.
United knew they needed to defeat Bayern Munich and hoped the FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray played out a draw to stand any hope of qualifying, but the Premier League giants were largely uninspiring and succumbed to yet another defeat.
