Cristiano Ronaldo received a standing ovation from the Al-Shabab fans despite playing a key role to knock their favourite team out of the Kings Cup.

According to Fan Nation, Ronaldo added Al-Nassr’s fourth goal of the night, after the 38-year-old played a slick one-two with fellow Portugal international Otavio before burying a low shot from 10 yards in the 74th minute.

In a video that has gone viral, Al-Shabab fans were seen chanting Ronaldo’s name as they paid their respect to the Al-Nassr captain for his superb performance despite previously taunting him.

The Portugal forward also received a standing ovation from everyone in the stadium when he was substituted in the 82nd minute as Al-Nassr zoomed into the Saudi Kings Cup semi-finals with the victory.

Ronaldo taunted with Messi chants

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to be oblivious to Al Shabab fans chanting Lionel Messi's name during Al-Nassr's Saudi Kings Cup quarterfinal match, Sportskeeda reports.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was hailed by fans for his cold reaction to the chants as he ended up scoring in the game for Al-Nassr as they cruised to a 5-2 victory away from home.

Ronaldo has been in excellent form for the Saudi Pro League team this season, scoring 20 goals and providing 10 assists in 22 games across competitions, and he is the only player to have scored 50 goals in 2023.

Real Madrid forward salutes Ronaldo

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Real Madrid forward Rodrygo de Goes - who appears in awe of Cristiano Ronaldo’s feats - took to social media to salute the Al-Nassr star.

The 23-year-old attacker, quoting a tweet saluting Ronaldo, posted the emoji ‘GOAT’ and tagged the Al-Nassr forward.

Rodrygo joins the ranks of present-day football stars who admire the Portuguese veteran. This sentiment is echoed by his Brazilian compatriot, Vinicius Jr, who consistently expresses admiration for the prolific Ronaldo on social media.
