- Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 against Chelsea at the Molineaux
- Olivier Giroud gave the Blues early in the second half but Wolves bit back through Daniel Podence
- Pedro Neto then led a counter attack in the final minute to slot home a dramatic late winner
Chelsea suffered a second straight defeat as Wolverhampton came from behind to dramatically win at the Molineaux on Tuesday, December 15.
Wolves forward Pedro Neto scored with virtually the last kick of the game to complete a dramatic turnaround in a game which was meandering towards a draw.
Frank Lampard needed nothing short of a response after the surprise loss at the hands of Everton on Saturday, December 12 as Chelsea tried to get a hold of the game early on.
Chelsea controlled the game from early on and limited Wolves to long range efforts and counter attacks but a goal was hard to come by in the opening exchanges.
The Blues were particularly dangerous on the left side as the likes of Cristian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell all looked likely.
An early chance fell on Timo Werner after some good work from Pulisic but the German failed to convert as Chelsea pressed for a goal.
The best chance of the half fell the way of Kurt Zouma, who rose highest to meet a cross but was unlucky to see it cannon off the woodwork.
It only took four minutes after the restart for Chelsea to find the opener as Giroud continued his good goal scoring.
The Frenchman brilliantly volleyed a Ben Chilwell cross past goalkeeper Rui Patricio who thought he had made the save but the ball snuck from under him just past the goal line.
The goal sparked Wolves to life and they pressed for their first goal since November 29.
Nuno Espirito thought his side had snatched an equaliser after Fabio Silva found the back of the net but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Pressure eventually paid off as Wolves found an equaliser in the 66th minute when Daniel Podence cut inside the penalty area to fire a shot which took a slight deflection off defender Reece James.
Momentum shifted to the home side after the equaiser as Adama Traore, who played as a make-shift striker in the absence of Raul Jimenez, squandered a chance when he squared the ball to Nelson Semedo when he probably should have had a stab at goal.
Chelsea were lucky not to fall behind late on after the referee gave a penalty to Wolves after an incident involving Pedro Neto and Reece James but the decision was overturned by the Video Assisted Referee.
But Wolves were not to be denied for a second time as they found a winner at the very end of the game after Neto broke off in a counter attack to brilliantly hit home a low shot past Edouard Mendy.
