FootballLacazette Nets Hat-Trick to Give Struggling Lyon Second Win of the Season
- Alexandre Lacazette grabbed all three goals as Lyon defeated Toulouse
- The victory was Lyon's first win since the sacking of coach Fabio Grosso
- Lyon has moved to within a point of second-from-bottom Clermont Foot
Alexandre Lacazette showed why he will play a crucial role in Lyon’s battle to survive relegation from the French Ligue 1 this season after netting a hat-trick against Toulouse on Sunday, December 10.
The former Arsenal striker netted all three goals to boost his team’s chances of survival, firing his side to a 3-0 victory against 15th-placed Toulouse, allowing them to reduce the gap from safety to three points.
According to SuperSport, Lacazette scored a quickfire brace in the first half, turning home Jake O’Brien’s flick at a corner for his first before pouncing in on Tolisso’s shot on the half-volley to double Lyon’s advantage.
The captain then added the icing to the cake 10 minutes from when he was ideally placed to pounce on a blocked shot in the six-yard box and hammer home his third of the day late on.
Lacazette's hat-trick, his sixth league goal this season, gave Ligue 1's bottom club a vital win in the quest for survival against the team just above the relegation zone.
Lyon earns first win after Grosso sack
Meanwhile, Lyon earned its first win since the sacking of coach, Fabio Grosso, with the seven-time French champions moving up to 10 points, just three behind their opponents, Reuters reports.
Grosso's last game in charge was a 2-0 home league defeat by Lille, which kept Lyon at the bottom of the Ligue 1 table on seven points after 12 games, five points adrift of safety.
Lyon had announced academy coach, Pierre Sage was to take over the reins at the club following the sacking of the 2006 World Cup winner with Italy.

FootballLacazette loses voice during interview
Sports Brief had previously reported on Lyon striker, Lacazette enduring a tough post-match interview after he lost his voice during the Ligue 1 loss against AS Monaco.
The veteran striker, who was handed the captain's armband after making his comeback to the club after a stint with Arsenal, was on hand for the post-match duties.
Unfortunately, Lacazette had lost his voice, seemingly from too much shouting in the game and he sounded funny as he soldiered on fielding questions from the press.
