FootballSpanish Journalist Slams Barcelona Forward Following Disgraceful Display Against Girona

- The La Liga giants were largely outplayed by their Catalan counterpart
- A Spanish Journalist has slammed a Barcelona forward for his underwhelming showing
Barcelona slumped to their second defeat of the La Liga season at the hands of their city rivals, Girona FC.
The Catalan club, who were tipped to largely secure victory against their cross-city rivals despite being dodgy, were reminded of their vulnerabilities early into the game following a beautiful finish from forward Artem Dovbyk in the 12th minute of the clash.
Despite Barcelona managing to equalise seven minutes later courtesy of a headed strike from Robert Lewandowski, Girona again wasted little time to regain their lead, as Real Madrid academy graduate Miguel Guitierrez restored the lead for Michel Sanchez’s side ahead of the halftime break.
Barcelona failed to respond effectively in the second half, and Girona capitalised with goals from Valery Fernandez and Cristhian Stuani, on either side of a 92nd-minute finish from midfielder Ilkay Gundugan.
However, amid the largely underwhelming display from all of the Barcelona players, a Spanish journalist has singled out a club forward for criticism and compared him to one foot of a Girona winger.
Journalist slams Barcelona star
Spanish Journalist David Bernabeu has called out forward Raphinha Belloli for what he deems as a shambolic showing against Michel’s side.
The journalist who was speaking to Catalan outlet Radioestadio Noche following the game took no prisoner as he slammed the performance of the 26-year-old.
“Raphinha lacks quality on the pitch. He makes very bad decisions. Savinho's [Girona's attacker] one leg has more quality than him, he said.”
Though seemingly harsh, this critique is echoed by a portion of the fan base, frustrated by Barcelona's performance in the aftermath of the defeat. It's worth noting, however, that Whoscored reported the Brazilian forward provided an assist for Barcelona's equalising goal during the game.

FootballXavi Hernandez sets unwanted record
Sports Brief in a previous report highlighted Barcelona’s Xavi Hernadez has set an unwanted record for the club.
The defeat against Girona condemned the 43-year-old to a horrible win percentage, which is worse than that of former coach Quique Setien and only bettered by the shambolic tenure of Dutch manager Ronald Koeman.
