United were hoping to build on their 2-1 encouraging win over rivals Chelsea from their encounter earlier in the week.

However, ten Hag's charges were unable to replicate that performance against the Cherries.

According to ESPN, Bournemouth needed just five minutes into the kick-off to open the scoring via Dominic Solanke.

Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi went on to bag a goal apiece in the second half to condemn the hosts to a comprehensive defeat.

Ten Hag watches helplessly as Man United lose

After the full-time whistle, ten Hag was caught on camera looking on helplessly following the defeat.

The video shared by @StretfordPaddck on X showed the Dutchman watching in disbelief for a couple of seconds as everyone made their way out of the standing.

His reaction had many wondering what was going on in his mind, with @MOMOJTV commenting:

"Bro is stunned as much as the fans. How can players be so good in one Game and so bad in the other. Its incredible how much it changes."

@tof_authentic added:

"He’s out of his depth."

@minusthejets noted:

"Should have done a Mourinho, gone and waved to the Stretford end before FT, shake the other managers hand and leave the players alone out there."
