The support of a trusted name is a valuable recommendation.

Lavish praise has continued for Pitso Mosimane, this time drawing positive comments from a former Paris St Germain and Nigeria star.

The South African coach has been part of late-2023's most prominent footballing storylines which will continue until the former Al Wahda boss finds a new home.

Nigerian wizard 'Jay-Jay' Okocha has stated that Pitso Mosimane would be a worthy candidate to one day lead the Super Eagles.

Nigeria's incumbent, Jose Peseiro has divided opinion and should he not have a successful Africa Cup of Nations, could find himself looking for a new job.

Mosimane has been linked with every vacancy south of the Mediterranean and few international appointments come with more pressure and prestige than with Nigeria.

Speaking to PrimeSportsWithMahlatse about rumours linking Mosimane with the Super Eagles as well as his experience, Okocha said:

"Without a doubt, Pitso is one of the best African coaches. If we can get a coach like that, it would add great value to our football."

Nigeria drew their first two FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which intensified the scrutiny of Peseiro. Lamenting the loss of aura around the Super Eagles in recent years, TimesLive quoted the legend as saying:

"Recently we have not had the results to match our status. Because of that, we might have lost a bit of respect and fear we had during my era."
