Boniface grabbed the game’s opening goal as Leverkusen led SC Paderborn in their Round of 16 clash.

He scored in the 12th minute of the game, latching on brilliantly to a Josip Stanišić cross to guide the ball off the post and into the net.

The goal saw Boniface reach 14 goals in all competitions this season, highlighting why he’s so important for Xabi Alonso’s men.

He also has notched up six assists, bringing his goal involvement this season to 20.

Boniface denied an assist

The Nigerian marksman missed out on a chance to increase that number to 21 when he was denied an assist in the second half.

Boniface set up Jonas Hoffman for Leverkusen’s third, but the goal was chalked off for offside. Despite this, he still received a great reception when he was substituted later.

Boniface has been an absolute revelation for Alonso’s side since joining from Union Saint Gilloise in July.

Boniface leading Bayer towards titles

Along with Leverkusen’s other talented attackers, he has helped ensure that Alonso’s side remain unbeaten in all competitions this season.

They are also steadily making their way towards a long-awaited title. Leverkusen last won the cup in the 1992/ 93 season and have never lifted the Bundesliga title.
