Jude Bellingham was excited to meet his father, Mark, before receiving the Golden Boy award after the pair met at the ceremony held in Turin, Italy.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been staying with his mother, Denise, since his transfer to Real Madrid in the summer, while his father stays with his younger brother Jobe in England.

Mark, who manages the Real Madrid star's career, was, until 2022, a sergeant in the West Midlands Police in England and a prolific goalscorer in non-League football, Wikipedia reports.

According to ESPN, Bellingham collected the 2023 Golden Boy Award for Europe's best under-21 player on Monday, December 4, after receiving a record-breaking 485 of a possible 500 points from the jury.

The England star sealed a mega move to Real Madrid in the summer and has become an influential player for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, scoring a total of 15 goals in all competitions this season.

Bellingham appreciates teammates for award

Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham recognises he would not have been named as the Golden Boy winner if not for his amazing teammates from his days at Birmingham City to Real Madrid, Tribal Football reports.

Bellingham was speaking after winning the Golden Boy award, admitted he is surrounded by amazing players who have pushed him to become one of the best players in the world currently.

The England midfielder is the first Madrid player to win the award, which has been handed out since 2003. He follows Barcelona midfielders Gavi, who won it in 2022, and Pedri, who won it in 2021.

Bellingham breaks Mbappe’s unique record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Jude Bellingham won the 2023 Golden Boy award, beating close competitors like Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala, RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons and Benfica's Antonio Silva.

The Real Madrid star took home the award with 97% of the vote, equalling Kylian Mbappe's record for the highest percentage of the votes received.

However, Bellingham's win was more dominant compared to Mbappe.
