The South African Football Association [SAFA] has placed heavy bans on ten executive committee officials with immediate effect.
The officials placed on bans are from the Thulamela Football Association [THULFA] in the Limpopo province.
The reason behind the heavy bans on the officials was due to the power struggle between the leaders of THULFA after holding a highly contested election.
According to a report by FARPost, the officials banned are; David Khakhu [1st Deputy Chairperson], Eric Munyai [2nd Deputy Chairperson], Mavis Mulibana [3rd Deputy Chairperson] and Eric Makungo [Treasurer].
The ban also included leaders of the different zones; Nesane Mutshafa [Nzhelele Zone], Richard Muthego [Tshilamba Zone], Thinawanga Maphagela [Phiriphiri Zone], and Emmanuel Mulaudzi [Dzindi Zone].
SAFA released an official statement to confirm the bans of the ten officials.
"Following the continuous defiance by the Executive Committee of Thulamela Local Football Association, SAFA Vhembe was left with no other option but to invoke Article 13.2 of SAFA Vhembe statutes to ban the following members for ten years," the statement reads.
"SAFA Vhembe decided during its 2022-2023 Ordinary Congress. Having taken the above decisions, SAFA Vhembe will then move with speed to implement the decision to administer football in Thulamela Local Football Association.
"The SAFA Vhembe Emergency Committee is set to meet this week to pave the way forward for the football activities to resume in THULFA."
