There is no doubt about the fact that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world considering his achievements so far in the game of football.

Since Lionel Messi started his football career at a younger age, the Argentine has never played for any other club except Barcelona and he is not regretting his decision to have been with a club.

He has won the Ballon d'Or five times in his career, won the Spanish La Liga titles, Copa del Rey, Champions League and other personal awards.

Last year, Lionel Messi had the intention of breaking a record with Argentina at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but he came back home heartbroken after been sent out by France in the round of 16.

He tried to forget about the pain of not winning the World Cup with Argentina in Russia, and he did himself lots of good by lifting the 2018/19 La Liga title with Barcelona.

Today in this report, we want to take a look at three disappointing moments Lionel Messi has had so far in 2019.

1. Champions League defeat against Liverpool

Barcelona players, fans and Lionel Messi are still battling to understand how they failed to score just a goal against Liverpool in the Champions League semifinal second leg at Anfield losing 4-0.

The Spanish club had won the first leg 3-0 at the Nou Camp with the expectation that they would reach the final, but against all odds, Liverpool stunned Barcelona in England.

Lionel Messi's wing was clipped at Anfield by Virgil Van Dijk as the Argentine failed to score against the English team unlike he did in the first leg.

2. Losing the 2018/19 Copa Del Rey final

After crashing out of the Champions League losing against Liverpool, Barcelona wanted to put the heartbreak behind them by beating Valencia in the Copa Del Rey, but they suffered another disappointment.

Valencia beat Barcelona 2-1 to win the title - although Lionel Messi tried his best in the encounter, but was not enough to save his club.

3. 2019 Copa America defeat against Brazil

Argentina's 2019 semifinal defeat against Brazil in the Copa America is a fresh wound for Lionel Messi as he had hoped he would steer his country to the final.

But the heartbreak of him not winning a title with his national team continues as Brazil defeated Argentina 2-0.
