  • Real Madrid are contending with a worrying injury list
  • This season, most of their starters have suffered serious injuries
  • The list of their injured players is concerning as the season reaches a crucial period

Real Madrid have made an incredible start to the 2023/24 season. They sit top of the table after 15 games, level on points with highflying Girona.

However, the incredible start has been threatened by a ridiculous number of injuries to some of their key players throughout the season.

Most of their first-team squad, which started pre-season games, has been broken up by minor and serious injuries. The injury list is insane.

Dani Carvajal injured his calf over the weekend, joining Thibaut Courtois, Éder Militão, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, Arda Güler and Vinícius Júnior on the treatment table, per ESPN.

According to journalist Alberto Pereiro via Madrid Xtra, Real Madrid has suffered 19 injuries this season already, and the only starters that have escaped injury are Federico Valverde and Rodrygo Goes.

Courtois and Militao are out for the season with ACL injuries, while the rest have short-term problems.

It is incredible that Madrid have done so well this season despite having all those injuries. Some of the players will return in early 2024 when the season heats up.

Real Madrid injury issues

Despite enduring just one defeat this season, the La Liga giants' squad faces a formidable trial ahead due to a substantial number of injured players as Sports Brief earlier reported.

Courtois and Militao will need months of recovery from their ACL injuries. Vinicius, Camavinga and Tchouameni will also be vital in their hunt for trophies this season.

The club hope most of their players will return in the first few months of 2024 when the Champions League knockout stages start,

Ancelotti defends Kepa

Sports Brief in a previous report stated Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti defended Kepa Arrizabalaga following an horrendous mistake against Napoli.

The Chelsea loanee was largely to blame for the first goal conceded by Los Blancos against Napoli following a header from Norwegian defender Loe Ostigard at the Stadio Maradona.

Kepa's subpar performances have led to criticism from doubters, but coach Carlo Ancelotti has come to his defence.
