Real Madrid eyes former Chelsea player to bolster offensive set up: Report
FootballPSG Faces Dual Setback With Hakimi and Another Key Midfielder Set to Miss Action For a Month
- Paris Saint-Germain have been in immense form in their recent run of matches
- Kylian Mbappe and a host of players have been pivotal to this streak of victories
- Luis Enrique's side are set to be without two key players for an extended period
Paris Saint-Germain have put their early season woes behind them and have been on an impeccable run of form since their 4-1 UEFA Champions League defeat at the hands of Newcastle United.
Since the October 4 fixture, Luis Enrique's team has secured victories in eight out of their 10 subsequent games.
This impressive turnaround by the once lacklustre PSG side can be attributed to the outstanding performances of key players.
While Kylian Mbappe has been a crucial figure with his goal-scoring prowess, defenders Hakimi Achraf and new signing, Lee Kang-in have also played instrumental roles in the team's recent success.
However, just as the pieces are beginning to align for Enrique, he is set to be dealt a huge blow, with both of his in-form stars set to be out of action for an extended period, creating a challenging situation for the team.
PSG stars set for month-long layoff
According to reports from the French outlet, Le Parisien, as cited by PSG Report, the Ligue 1 club will be without Hakimi and Kang-in for a month in early 2024.
Hakimi is scheduled to participate in the African Cup of Nations with the Moroccan national team from January 13 to February 11, while Kang-in is set to represent South Korea in the Asian Cup from January 12 to February 10.
This news raises concerns for PSG, as both players have played crucial roles in Enrique's tactical plans since the start of his reign.
The absence is particularly worrisome given the lack of a direct replacement for Hakimi, and it is worth recalling that the team's early-season struggles coincided with Kang-in's international commitments in September.
Ivan Toney: UEFA rule to affect Chelsea's transfer dealings after Mudryk, Fernandez signings
FootballDespite a relatively manageable fixture schedule during this period, the Trophee des Champion clash against Toulouse on January 3 is deemed crucial for PSG, as per a report from Whoscored.
A victory in this match would help alleviate the mounting pressure on the 53-year-old manager.
