Pep Guardiola has sent Manchester City fans a heartfelt plea following their latest setback in the Premier League.

City were held to a 3-3 disappointing draw by Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.

Son Heung-min netted at both ends of the goalposts, with Phil Foden and Giovani Lo Celso also finding the back of the net for either side.

Jack Grealish thought he had won it for City with nine minutes left on the clock, only for Dejan Kulusevski to score Tottenham's equaliser at stoppage time.

The BBC reports that chaotic scenes marked the closing stages of the match after a controversial refereeing decision denied City a chance to score a winner.

The move sparked anger and outrage, with Erling Haaland confronting the match official before storming off the pitch immediately after the full-time whistle.

Guardiola's message to fans

Guardiola, who has enjoyed a successful spell with the Citizens since he joined them in 2016, has now sent the Man City support base an urgent message.

The Spaniard reminded the fans of all they have won before, including their historic treble last season, urging them to stick with the team through thick and thin.

"We won a lot, and in the future understand this is an exception. It’s not normal to win the treble, five Premier Leagues in six years," he said via Football Tweet.
"Continue to enjoy but when the bad moments are coming this season, or next, you have to be there."

New footage shows more of Haaland incident

Meanwhile, as Sports Brief previously reported, more recent footage shows what happened as Haaland stormed off the pitch at full-time.

Earlier on, the Norwegian's reaction at the final whistle had been caught on camera, with the forward seen shoulder-barging a Spurs player.
