Jude Bellingham convincingly won the 2023 Golden Boy award, beating close competitors like Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala, RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons and Benfica's Antonio Silva.

The Real Madrid star took home the award with 97% of the vote, equalling Kylian Mbappe's record for the highest percentage of the votes received.

However, Bellingham's win was more dominant compared to Mbappe.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, via Madrid Xtra, Bellingham got 97% of the vote, but more people voted for him compared to Mbappe. The report claims of the 50 journalists who voted, 45 voted for Bellingham as the winner.

The remaining five voted for him to be second.

Mbappe won the 2017 Golden Boy Award with 291 votes, beating second-placed Dembele, who secured 149 first-place votes, per Sky Sports.

The award is handed out to players under the age of 21. Italian media outlet established the award in 2003 and the likes of Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney have won it.

Bellingham wins Kopa Trophy

Sports Brief also previously reported on Jude Bellingham claiming the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d'Or Awards gala event on Monday (October 30).

This prestigious accolade - reserved for the most outstanding footballer under the age of 21 - was presented to the Englishman at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

Bellingham's triumph signifies his status as the best-performing young player, outshining Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala and Barcelona's Alejandro Balde to win.

Bellingham reacts to surpassing Ronaldo

The 20-year-old star took to social media to express his delight following his comeback from injury.
