FootballGarnacho Has Competition: Belgian Striker Scores Beautiful Overhead Kick in Serie A
- Another overhead kick was witnessed in one of Europe's top leagues over the weekend
- Hellas Verona star Cyril Ngonge scored a possible Puskas award winner against Udinese
- The game ended in a 3-3 draw as both teams settled for a point from their Serie A clash
The Serie A was treated to a unique goal over the weekend as Hellas Verona striker, Cyril Ngonge scored a superb overhead kick against Udinese.
In the last few weeks, fans have witnessed some unique goals, with Alejandro Garnacho’s goal for Manchester United against Everton still being talked about.
Since Garnacho’s potential goal of the season, it seems every striker is determined to emulate his technique and Ngonge was the latest to make headlines.
Ngonge, a former Belgium U19 star, scored an equaliser for his side to make it 2-2 on the hour mark with a goal the goalkeeper knew very little about.
The 23-year-old striker expertly threw himself in the air to connect with a cross from Tomas Suslov, leaving the entire stadium in awe, as seen in a video shared on social media.
What distinguished Ngonge’s goal from Garnacho’s was the fact that the Hellas Verona striker had to be aware of the defenders around him and still improvise the finish, while the United star had a bit more space for his goal against Everton.
Udinese took the lead as Lorenzo Lucca scored his second of the day to make it 3-2. Still, the visitors showed determination to level matters again as Thomas Henry scored in the seventh minute of added time.
The Bianconeri and Verona are both relegation candidates in the Serie A this season and a draw did little to help either club in their quest to beat the drop.
Udinese have 12 points from 14 games, just two points ahead of Verona, who are in 18th place, as cited by GOAL.
