Nigerian Singer Yemi Alade Joins Other African Artistes in AFCON 2023 Official Theme Song, Video

Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has joined other African music acts for the official theme song for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which will be held in Ivory Coast.

The Africa's biggest football competition will take place between 13 January and 11 February 2024, with top countries in the continent battling for the trophy.

The official song for the 34th edition of the competition is titled ‘Akwaba’, which simply means 'welcome' in Baoule.

The song features Nigerian female Afrobeats artiste Yemi Alade, legendary Ivorian group Magic System, and Egyptian singer Mohamed Ramadan, according to a report by Music Africa.

The song was produced by French producer Dany Synthe, with the video released on Universal Music Africa.

Yemi Alade has always portrayed herself as 'Mama Africa' as her music is widely accepted by other African countries aside from Nigeria.

The Johnny crooner is expected to be present at the opening and closing ceremony of the competition to thrill the fans with her talent.

Yemi Alade's inclusion in the AFCON 2023 theme song stirred reactions from fans on social media.

Mane predicts tough AFCON 2023

Sports Brief earlier reported that Al-Nassr forward, Sadio Mane attributed Senegal's success in football in recent years to their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

The victory in Cameroon last year sparked a run for Senegalese football as the various national teams emerged champions at the different tournaments on the continent.

With a little over a month left for the Teranga Lions to begin the defence of their title, Mane insists they will have to work hard to win the tournament again.
