FootballAtletico Madrid Players Outraged With Joao Felix for Goal Celebration
- Joao Felix angered his former Atletico Madrid teammates for celebrating his goal
- The Portuguese forward scored the game's only goal as Barcelona defeated Atleti
- Felix joined the current La Liga champions on loan from Atletico during the summer
Joao Felix scored the game-winning goal for Barcelona against Atletico Madrid on Sunday night and was delighted to celebrate against his parent club.
The Portuguese forward won a weak tussle with Nahuel Molina on the edge of the box to chip the ball past an onrushing Jan Oblak for a clever opener for the reigning La Liga champions.
According to Football Espana, Felix had been at the centre of a storm ahead of this clash with an ongoing war of words with his former teammates following his decision to leave Atletico in September.
The 23-year-old forward’s decision to also celebrate his goal against his parent club further infuriated the Atletico Madrid players and supporters as tension between both parties escalated.
Felix was shipped out on loan to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid this summer after apparently falling out with manager, Diego Simeone.
Despite claims, a return to La Rojiblancos looks almost impossible with his actions on Sunday.
Felix explains his goal celebration
Meanwhile, Felix disclosed he had to celebrate scoring against Atletico Madrid to let out the frustrations he suffered at the hands of his parent club, SB Nation reports.
The 23-year-old forward had a torrid time at Wanda Metropolitano, being dropped to the bench after falling out with Simeone before being shipped out on loan to Chelsea and then Barcelona.
Felix explains that only those close to him understand how he and his family felt and the goal celebration was a means for him to let it all out against the team that caused him so much pain.
