  • Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday
  • Anthony Gordon scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute
  • During the game, Erik ten Hag was involved in a row with Anthony Martial

Erik Ten Hag was caught on camera waving his hands angrily at one of his players during Manchester United’s defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, December 2.

United were hoping to bounce back to winning ways after a disappointing 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in the Champions League days earlier.

For the trip to St James’ Park, Ten Hag made slight tweaks to his attack, bringing in Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the place of Rasmus Hojlund and Brazilian winger Antony.

Despite a promising attack, Ten Hag was left irate by one of his forwards, for his apparent lack of pressing during the game.

Ten Hag’s row with Martial

A video that has hit the internet shows Ten Hag waving an instruction to Martial, who also flares up his arms as if to contest what the manager was saying.

It remains uncertain what Ten Hag was telling Martial, but the United boss appeared to be annoyed by an aspect of the Frenchman’s game, and made his feelings known from the touchline.

However, during several moments in the game, Martial failed to track Fabian Schar, allowing the defender the freedom to advance forward.

As reported by BBC, Newcastle ended up securing a 1-0 victory, thanks to a strike by Anthony Gordon in the 55th minute.

Defeat to Newcastle now means the Magpies have beaten Manchester United in three consecutive games for the first time in more than 100 years.

As per The Mirror, also sprung Eddie Howe’s injury-ravaged team to fifth on the log, at the expense of United and Tottenham, who play Manchester City on Sunday.
