  • Paolo Maldini has criticised Milan for signing Samuel Chukwueze in the summer
  • The Milan legend also condemned the club for signing two ex-Chelsea players
  • The Super Eagles forward is still struggling to break into Pioli's starting line-up

AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has criticised the club for signing Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze and two former Chelsea stars Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic.

The Nigerian international joined the Italian side from Spanish side Villarreal for a reported fee of 30 million.

The Super Eagles star has since struggled to seal first-team place in Stefano Pioli's team.

The former Villarreal forward scored in AC Milan's 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite Chukwueze's latest good run of form for Milan, Maldini, who was the club's former sporting director, feels the Rossoneri wasted money in signing him from Spain, according to a report by Own Goal Nigeria.

The AC Milan legend also condemned his former club's decision to sign Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic from Chelsea as he claimed they were not needed in the squad.

"There is no need for it to sign Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic and Chukwueze: just use the money that a company that finally has a turnover of €400M deserves," he said.
"You can not compare the four previous transfer markets with the last one, we had different weapons."

Maldini is not happy with the way things have been since he left Milan, but he still wants the new management to respect the club's history.

"Does my [Milan] dynasty end on June 5? I don't know, a 36-year bond is too strong and will remain forever: history cannot be erased. I say thank you to life and Milan," he added.
"I said it before my departure: today you [the current Milan management] are in charge, but please respect history.”
