FootballManchester United Reportedly Eyeing Guinea International in January
- Manchester United have reportedly launched an enquiry into Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy
- The Red Devils signed striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in the summer
- But reports now claim Ten Hag’s side is eyeing a potential transfer for another striker
Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy’s performances in the Bundesliga this season have been so impressive that he has reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United.
The striker has lit up the Bundesliga so far this season, scoring an impressive 15 goals in 10 Bundesliga games. His goals have been crucial for Sebastian Hoeneß’s side, who are mounting an unlikely challenge for Champions League football with 27 points from nine games.
It was initially reported that Newcastle United, AC Milan and Roma were tracking the 27-year-old, and now another European giant has joined the race.
According to the Bundesliga website, only Harry Kane has scored more goals than the Stuttgart striker in the German top flight.
Eurosport reports that United have enquired about Guirassy’s availability and are open to moving if the striker’s fee is favourable.
Guirassy, meanwhile, would also be open to leaving the club should a suitable offer roll by.
Guirassy’s career trajectory
Born to Guinean parents in France, Guirassy started his career in the lower-tier leagues in France, playing for the likes of Montargis, Amilly and Laval.
He later joined Lille in France, signing a four-year contract for a reported transfer fee of €1 million.
In 2016, he moved to the Bundesliga, joining FC Koln on a five-year contract, but was loaned back to France in 2019 to join FC Amiens.
After a stint with Rennes, the striker joined Stuttgart in September 2022 on loan, with the club announcing in May 2023 that they had activated the option to make the loan a permanent deal.

FootballThe striker has a £14.6 million release clause that can be activated as early as January, according to Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna.
It now remains a question whether United sees the striker as a reliable long-term player.
The Red Devils signed a striker in the summer, Rasmus Hojlund, but the Dane has yet to realize his full potential.
He has, however, been prolific for Erik ten Hag in the Champions League, netting five goals in as many games.
Man United set unwanted record
Sports Brief also reported on the unwanted record set by Manchester United after the draw against Galatasaray.
On Wednesday, one Manchester United player’s name was in everyone’s mouths for all the wrong reasons after a shambolic performance in the Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
In a game in which United had little to no room for error, they ultimately settled for a point in a contest that was a classic but left a bad taste in Red Devils fans.
