- The 22-year-old Nigerian international has failed to score in his last two games for the club
Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface has showered praises on former Arsenal star and his Bayer Leverkusen teammate, Granit Xhaka in a recent post on social media.
The Nigerian international returned to club football after failing to lead his national team to victory in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
On his return, Boniface was a starter in Leverkusen's 3-0 win over Werder Bremen but failed to find the back of the net.
While the former Bodo/Glimt striker did not score, his team claimed the win through Jeremie Frimpong, Alejandro Grimaldo, and an Werder Bremen own goal.
Boniface took to Instagram to post a picture of Xhaka helping him tie his shoelaces, saying the gesture was greatly appreciated, according to a report by Soccernet.
In the caption on the image, the Nigerian star hailed the former Arsenal midfielder for his willingness to assist others.
"Important win. Thanks [Granit Xhaka] for always helping," he wrote.
Xhaka left Arsenal for Bayer Leverkusen in the same summer transfer window that Boniface joined the Bundesliga outfits.
The Swiss midfielder and the Nigerian striker have bonded well since moving to Germany.
Boniface will hope to end his two-game goal drought in Bayer Leverkusen's UEFA Europa League tie against Hacken on Thursday.
