  • Barcelona have recorded a series of underwhelming performances in recent times
  • The La Liga club are faced with the herculean task of defeating Portuguese side FC Porto
  • Real Madrid's coach has backed his Barcelona counterpart to surmount his current challenges

The recent series of results recorded at Barcelona has sparked discussions with scepticism regarding Coach Xavi Hernandez's ability to lead the club.

The defending La Liga Champions have fallen short of replicating their last season's performance, where they secured the Spanish league crown ahead of Real Madrid.

Despite making several high-profile signings, Xavi's team has been unable to reach the impressive heights they achieved last season.

According to Fotmob statistics, the Catalan club has only secured two victories in their last five matches, a streak that has left many within the club's hierarchy dissatisfied.

Reports from Barca Universal suggest that the club might consider parting ways with Xavi if he fails to secure a victory against FC Porto.

However, amidst the speculation surrounding the 43-year-old's future, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his support for his La Liga counterpart.

Ancelotti backs Xavi

The 63-year-old Los Blancos boss, speaking to the media ahead of his side's Champions League clash against Napoli, responded to a question about offering advice to Xavi, stating, as reported by Mundo Deportivo:

"Absolutely not. Xavi and I understand football very well… and that criticism is part of it.
Sometimes it happens, but Xavi has the experience to handle all of this. He knows the environment very well, and I think he has all the resources to navigate this situation."

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Xavi's immediate future, it's worth noting that club president Joao Laporta recently expressed support for the manager during his media interaction on Monday, November 27.
