  • Barcelona are set to host FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League
  • Both sides previously met at the Estadio Do Dragao in Portugal
  • The Catalan club have set a strict rule for fans of the visiting club

Barcelona is taking proactive measures to prevent a recurrence of the events that unfolded at Camp Nou during the UEFA Europa League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2021/2022 season.

The La Liga club faced a hostile reception from the 30,000 visiting fans of the Bundesliga club who came to cheer on Oliver Glasner's side.

The German club's massive support, which appeared to outnumber the fans of Barcelona on the night, yielded fruit as Frankfurt coasted to a 3-4 aggregate victory against the La Liga club, as reported by Sky Sports.

Perhaps anticipating a similar scenario in their UCL clash, La Blaugrana is leaving nothing to chance and has implemented strict rules for the away fans to avoid any adverse impact on their qualification prospects.

Barcelona set strict rule for Porto fans

In an official statement on their website, Barcelona outlined stringent security and ticket control measures for the upcoming match, which has been classified as high-risk. These measures purportedly aim to ensure the safety of all attendees.

The statement specifically appeals to fans of the visiting team - Porto - who do not have tickets, urging them not to go to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, as tickets will not be available at the ground.

Barcelona has stated that only supporters of the Portuguese giants with tickets distributed by their club, for the designated area reserved for visiting fans, will be permitted to attend the match.

The upcoming fixture between Barcelona and Porto promises to be intense, as the outcome could significantly influence the final standings in the UCL group stage.

Xavi questions Barcelona's mentality

Sports Brief previously reported on coach, Xavi Hernandez questioning Barcelona players' mentality following the dismal draw against Rayo Vallecano.

The defending La Liga champions were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Vallecano earlier this month, dropping more points as the title race heats up.

Barcelona boss, Xavi was not happy with the mentality of his players, demanding more from them after a run of poor efforts domestically and in Europe.
