The move was initiated by Victor Lindelof, who played a crossfield pass to Marcus Rashford.

Rashford went on to set up Diogo Dalot before the Portuguese floated the ball to Garnacho, who, unmarked from 15 yards out, produced an unbelievable overhead kick to make it 1-0.

A video of the goal shared online showed the Argentine arching back before letting fly on a strike that has since been touted as a potential Puskas Award contender.

Meanwhile, the goal had a section of fans suggesting it qualifies for the accolade, with Sportbible reporting it remains to be seen if FIFA will make room for it, having nominated 11 others for the 2023 edition.

Fans react to Garnacho's stunner

A number of fans were quick to take to social media in praise of Garnacho, with @iLatif_ posting:

"Garnacho idolizes Cristiano Ronaldo for a reason. What a goal!!!"

@the_marcoli_boy reckoned:

"You are meant for greatness if you idolize Ronaldo. What an impressive Goal by Garnacho."

Garnacho spotted destroying penalty spot

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Alejandro Garnacho has been praised after his moment of genius inadvertently led to Andre Onana saving a last-gasp penalty on October 24.

Manchester United were on the brink of dropping points again in the Champions League when they faced Copenhagen at home, desperately needing maximum points to keep their hopes alive.

It was another unconvincing performance from Erik ten Hag's side, but they managed to get over the line nonetheless, courtesy of Harry Maguire's header in the second half.
