Gennaro Gattuso was known for his short temper as a player, and it hasn’t stopped now that he is a manager.
The feisty Italian always speaks his mind, and he didn’t hold back in his latest assessment of his side, Marseille.
Gattuso was appointed as manager of the French side at the end of the 2022/23 season but has seen his side struggle in Ligue 1 this season. Marseille currently sit in 10th place on the table with three wins, five draws and four losses.
Following their latest draw against RC Strasbourg, Gattuso hit out at his charges, labelling them as ‘rubbish,’ Eurosport reported.
How Gattuso described Marseille’s performance
"I don't know how we can play like that. I am very angry with the second half. It's a disaster," he said.
The former Valencia manager added that he wouldn’t have minded if his team lost but played well in the defeat.
“I asked the players how that happened. I want explanations. I'm expecting a response. The team was rubbish," he added.
Gattuso’s previous temper tantrums
The Marseille manager’s outburst at his side’s performance isn’t the first time he has let his emotions get the better of him.
As noted by Football Espana, Gattuso lashed out at the press while manager of Valencia.
Gattuso was talking to fans after another disappointing result when he spotted the media there. Twice, he pushed away the cameras, demanding that journalists leave. He was sacked soon after the outburst.

FootballGennaro Gattuso quits as Fiorentina manager
Former Napoli and AC Milan of Italy manager Gennaro Gattuso has departed Serie A side Fiorentina after just 23 days after he was signed as head coach.
It was gathered that the tactician was at loggerheads with the kind of players the club wanted to sign ahead of the start of the new season, Sports Brief reported.
Fiorentina wanted an addition of more affordable players, but those names proposed by Gattuso and his agent Jorge Mendes were not affordable for the club.
