According to Sky Sports, the midfielder moved to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer of 2022, with United forking out £34.6m - plus another €5m (£4.4m) in add-ons to land his services.

The Netherlands international went on to pen a contract until June 2025 with the Premier League giants.

However, Van de Beek has struggled to make an impression since he was signed, with the arrival of Erik ten Hag, who he shone under at Ajax, not doing him any good.

With the 26-year-old failing to get any game time since his return from a knee injury, he has set his sights on leaving Old Trafford ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking to The Mirror, Van de Beek expressed his desire to have more playing time, hinting he is ready to dump the Red Devils if that is what it would take for him to play more regularly.

“I need to start playing games very soon – if not at Man United, then at another club. I think I have to be ambitious,” he disclosed.

“I have always been a lover of the game. I am absolutely crazy about football. I earn a good living at United, but money is not my motivation. I want to enjoy my work every day," he added.
