  • Man City vs Liverpool was marked with a dramatic incident after the full-time whistle
  • This is after Darwin Nunez and Pep Guardiola were caught on camera squaring off
  • It took the intervention of Jurgen Klopp to stop Nunez from confronting the Man City boss

A section of fans contend they have worked out what Darwin Nunez said to Pep Guardiola during their heated exchange shortly after the full-time whistle of the Manchester City vs Liverpool cracker.

The two English giants faced off in a top-of-the-table cracker on Saturday, November 25, at the Etihad Stadium.

However, after 90 minutes of action, nothing could separate the two teams as they settled for a 1-1 draw.

According to Sporting News, Erling Haaland scored the opener in the 27th minute, only for Trent Alexander-Arnold to equalise for Liverpool with 10 minutes left on the clock.

The Premier League cracker hit its climax shortly after the full-time whistle when Nunez and Guardiola were caught on camera having a word with each other.

What did Nunez say to Pep?

According to Sportbible, it remains unclear why the Liverpool star confronted the Man City boss, with Pep downplaying the incident in his post-match interview.

Jurgen Klopp, who was seen restraining Nunez from confronting Pep, was also asked what sparked the row, but the Reds boss also remained mum on the matter, claiming he did not understand a word.

However, a section of fans believe they have worked out what Nunez, with some claiming it could be connected to an April event, where the City boss celebrated in front of Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas.

An X user, @Leaked_FPL, posted:

"Darwin Nunez to Pep Guardiola:
“Did you like that?”
He then pointed towards the goal where Trent scored.”

@lfcM1r1 pondered:

"Wonder if it was a reference to Pep saying “did you like it that?” about City’s equaliser to Tsimikas and Arthur in this fixture last season.”

@onlyfooty22 reckoned:

"Think he remembered Peps celebrations in the fixture at etiad last season.”

@fahmed321 concluded:

“Haha, if that’s the case fair play to him.”

Klopp speaks on Nunez v Pep row

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Jurgen Klopp hinted at what led to the verbal altercation between Pep Guardiola and Reds forward Darwin Nunez at full-time after Manchester City’s clash against Liverpool.

For the first time this season, Manchester City failed to win a game at home as Liverpool cancelled out Erling Haaland’s opener through Trent Alexander Arnold’s goal in the second goal.
