A section of fans have expressed their surprise after a controversial goal was given during a Women's Super Lig derby between Fenerbahce and Besiktas.
The tie looked set to end in an epic 2-2 draw before Besiktas scored the winner in the 95th minute of the tie.
Sportbible reports that the goal was scored by Kosovan striker, Donjeta Halilaj from one of the unlikeliest positions and was allowed to stand.
In a video doing rounds on social media, the 23-year-old can be seen heading the ball out of the hands of the opposition goalkeeper.
The goal sparked protestation from the Fenerbahce camp, which quickly surrounded the referee to have the goal overruled.
However, the goal was allowed to stand, with Besiktas, who were the hosts, holding firm to the lead to claim a hard-fought win.
Fans react to controversial Besiktas goal
Fans were quick to take to social media to react to the somewhat controversial goal, with some arguing that it was correctly allowed to stand.
@Polo_429 argued:
"Perfectly legal. The goalkeeper is not adjudged to be in complete control of the ball unless both hands are on it. In the is instance, having it placed as she did means the ball is in play, and the attacker well within her rights to do what she did."
@ReviewEveryFoul pointed out:
"Even in one hand, the keeper is deemed to have control. Should be a free kick, not a goal."
@Munashe_mb boldly claimed:

Football"According to the rules, its not a goal."
@Alan_Oliver concluded:
"It shouldn’t be a goal. IFAB rules are very clear on when/how a goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball."
