FootballVictor Osimhen Awaits Doctors’ Clearance Ahead of Napoli’s Serie A Clash With Atalanta
- Victor Osimhen is awaiting a green light from doctors to play against Atalanta
- The Napoli striker has been out of action for a month due to a hamstring injury
- The Super Eagles superstar returned to light training last week after a month
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen is awaiting clearance from doctors to feature in Napoli's Serie A clash against Atalanta this weekend.
The Super Eagles star was injured while on international duty for Nigeria last month against Saudi Arabia.
The 24-year-old sustained a hamstring injury that kept him on the sideline for some weeks.
The Nigerian international has picked up where he left from last season, scoring six goals in eight games in the Italian league, but has missed his club's last six games in all competitions.
He was also not included in the Super Eagles squad that took on Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and his presence was heavily missed as Jose Peseiro's side dropped four points in both games.
There is a bit of positive news for Napoli's new manager, Walter Mazzari, with Osimhen having returned to partial training last week to give a glimmer of hope that he could feature against Atalanta.
According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport - per Complete Sports - Napoli are waiting for the doctors to declare the Nigerian international ready for the game against Ademola Lookman's Atalanta.
Napoli also have an important midweek match against Spanish giants, Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen's presence is needed for the Parthenopeans as they are without a win in their last two matches across all competitions.
