  • Raphael Varane has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United recently
  • Reports claim the Frenchman is now reconsidering his future with the Red Devils
  • Varane is expected to attract interest from outfits in both Italy and Saudi Arabia

Manchester United defender, Raphael Varane has been linked with a sensational Old Trafford exit barely two years since he joined the Red Devils.

The French star joined United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 to become the club's third signing at the time, after the arrivals of winger, Jadon Sancho and goalkeeper, Tom Heaton.

According to Sky Sports, the Premier League giants forked out around £41 million, including add-ons, to land the services of the centre-back on a four-year deal.

However, the former Real Madrid ace is said to have set his sights on quitting the Manchester-based club at the end of the ongoing season after falling down the order.

The Mirror reports that while Varane is sure to attract interest in the January transfer window, Erik ten Hag is not willing to entertain the idea of selling the World Cup winner midway through the season.

Which clubs could Varane join?

The France international is expected not to fall short of transfer options should he decide to quit United.

Reports claim that the Red Devils man has been tipped to move to either Italy or Saudi Arabia should he depart the Premier League.

Varane's decision to dump United comes at a time when he has fallen down the pecking order under ten Hag.

The centre-back has started just one of the club's last eight matches, with Harry Maguire and Johny Evans currently ahead of him.

Varane backs United to win UCL

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Varane having high hopes for United and their current squad, such that he believes the team has enough quality to win the UEFA Champions League.

The defender made the claim as the Red Devils prepared to return to the competition after missing out on last year's edition, having exited in the semis of last season's Europa League.
