  • Kylian Mbappe was on top form for France in their latest Euro 2024 qualifying clash
  • He scored a hat-trick as France thrashed Gibraltar 14-0
  • Sports Brief compares his stats in international football at 24 of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Kylian Mbappe bagged another hat-trick in France's 14-0 thrashing of Gibraltar in a Euro 2024 qualifying encounter on Saturday.

His hat trick saw him reach 300 career goals, which is more than what some of the game's greats like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo had at the age of 24.

After last night's match, Mbappe has now scored 46 goals for France, 227 for PSG and 27 for Monaco. This is an astonishing record for a player who still has several seasons at the top level.

Mbappe would retire right now, and his resume would be spotless. Yet, he still has so much to achieve in his career.

The last decade has been dominated by Lionel Messi and Ronaldo, who broke almost every record imaginable in club and international football.

Their era is coming to an end, and if you want a successor, look no further than the French captain. Therefore, Sports Brief compares Mbappe's stats in international football to those of Messi and Ronaldo.

Kylian Mbappe's career so far

The France superstar turned 24 during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and his career up to this point is filled with memorable performances, clutch moments, and great goals.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, he bagged a hat-trick to beat Messi to the Golden Boot with one more than the Argentine. Messi took home the World Cup trophy. Mbappe also scored in the 2018 World Cup final, which France won.

He has won five Ligue 1 Golden Boots and six Ligue 1 titles. The only trophy missing in his CV is the Champions League and the European Championship. He was also chosen as France's captain and will aim to spearhead another stacked French team to glory in Euro 2024.

Lionel Messi's career.

Before last year's World Cup, Messi had won everything in club football. His first major international trophy was the 2021 Copa America when he was 34.

At Barcelona, he had scored every kind of goal and won every trophy there is to win at club level. In Qatar, he played a starring role to win Argentina's first World Cup since 1986.

He has scored over 800 goals, including 106 in 179 appearances for Argentina and is considered the best footballer in history.

Cristiano Ronaldo's career so far

Ronaldo turns 39 next year and has scored almost the same number of goals (46) as Erling Haaland, Mbappe and Harry Kane.

The Al-Nassr star has scored nearly 900 goals in his career and is still going strong.

His 128 goals for Portugal is a record. He passed longtime record holder Iran's Ali Daei (109), per UEFA. Ronaldo, Messi and Daei are the only players to score at least 100 international goals, per Transfermarkt.

Mbappe vs Messi vs Mbappe at 24

Mbappe has 46 goals for France at 24 in 74 appearances. The PSG superstar will turn 25 in December and will play his last match at 25 against Greece on November 21.

Messi turned 25 in the summer of 2012. At that time, he had scored 26 goals in 70 appearances for Argentina, per Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo turned 25 in February 2010, and he was the best player in the world alongside Messi. By the time he was celebrating his 25th birthday, he had scored 22 goals in 68 appearances.

Mbappe is way ahead of schedule, and whichever number Ronaldo decides to stop at, the Frenchman is capable of reaching and even surpassing, barring any injuries.
