FootballWhat Kylian Mbappe Said After Reaching 300 Career Goals at the Age of 24
- France and PSG star Kylian Mbappe has downplayed his recent goal-scoring feat
- Mbappe reached a staggering 300 career goals before turning 25
- He contributed six of the 14 goals France scored in their 14-0 mauling of Gibraltar
Kylian Mbappe, despite his outstanding performance against Gibraltar in France's Euro 2024 Qualifiers, chose to play down his remarkable achievement of reaching 300 career goals at the young age of 24.
The Paris Saint-Germain superstar delivered a stellar hat-trick alongside three assists, contributing significantly to six of Les Bleus' 14 goals against the European underdogs on Saturday evening in Nice.
His six-goal contribution not only upheld France's flawless qualifying campaign in Group B but also marked two personal milestones.
Initially, Mbappe surpassed Antoine Griezmann, securing the third spot in France's all-time top scorers list behind iconic French forward Thierry Henry and 2018 World Cup winner Olivier Giroud, per GOAL.
Moreover, he achieved the remarkable feat of reaching 300 career goals before turning 25, a milestone unmatched by even Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, as per Opta Statistics, despite their legendary status in football.
Mbappe modestly downplayed his 300-goal accomplishment despite the surreal nature of his numbers in a career that has seen him achieve numerous records at such a young age.
“It’s just part of the process. There are some players who scored 800 or 850 goals in their career," he told TF1 as cited by Fabrizio Romano.
Instead, he focused on further enhancing his performance for both PSG and the French national team, aiming for continued improvement in his numbers.
“300 is just hilarious!. I have to keep going and improve for both club and national team.”
