A Liverpool summer signing has rejected comparisons to legend Steven Gerrard but admits he would choose to have a career like him at the club.
Gerrard was loyal to Liverpool throughout his career, turning down career-changing opportunities to join Chelsea and Real Madrid at different times.
He won all trophies at the club except a Premier League title and was part of the 2005 UEFA Champions League winning team in the dramatic final in Istanbul.
The England midfielder spent a season in Major League Soccer before hanging his boots and beginning his coaching career as an academy coach at his boyhood club.

FootballPer BBC Sports, the Reds activated the £60 million to sign Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, and he chose Gerrard's legendary number 8.
This has drawn comparisons between him and the legend, but he rejected it on Football Focus via Liverpool's official website.
“I don’t want to be him, I want to be myself, but of course, if they put a paper in front of me now and say you’re going to have the same impact or the same career here in Liverpool, I’m going to sign it directly!” he said.
He has two goals for Jurgen Klopp's team in 17 appearances in all competitions this season.
