New intriguing footage has shown how Kylian Mbappe was put through a rollercoaster of emotions during the World Cup final penalty shoot-out last year.
The final between the then-defending champions France and Argentina was arguably one of the best finals in the history of the competition due to the individual brilliance of Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
Les Blues, under Didier Deschamps, were seeking to become the first side since Brazil to win back-to-back World Cup titles.
Argentina raced to a 2-0 lead inside the first 36 minutes with goals from Messi and Angel Di Maria. Mbappe would then drag his side back into the game with a quickfire brace in the 80th and 81st minutes.
The France forward then cancelled Messi's second goal in extra time to force the game to penalty shoot-outs.
Kylian Mbappe's reactions in penalty shoot-outs
The video, shared by Max Power, shows real-time Mbappe's emotions as every player takes his penalty. The 24-year-old took the first spot-kick and duly converted.
He barely moved when Aurelien Tchouameni put his effort wide. However, Kingsley Coman's miss was met with a reaction of disappointment as the Paris Saint-Germain striker left the huddle momentarily, his hands in the air.
Leandro Paredes then scored to take the game to match point for Lionel Scaloni's side. At this point, Mbappe had almost fallen to the ground, crouching.
Here is a video of how it unfolded:
Gonzalo Montiel scored the decisive penalty, which saw Messi sink to the ground in the opposite huddle as he finally completed football.
