Spanish club Athletic Bilbao have congratulated Ghana striker Inaki Williams after netting his debut goal for the Black Stars to clinch the West African side an important win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Spain-born forward rose high to meet a cross from Gideon Mensah in the final meet of the game against Madagascar in Kumasi.
Williams has been knocking the doors for his first for the Black Stars since making his debut in a friendly against Brazil in September last year.
The 29-year-old had to wait until his ninth appearance for the Black Stars to score his first, having been denied earlier in the game by the offside flag.
"Iñaki Williams scores the winning goal (1-0) for the Ghana Black Stars in the qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup against Madagascar Madagascar. The red-and-white striker's first goal with the Ghana national team," wrote the club on social media.
The Black Stars will travel to Maroni for the second group game against Comoros Island as the team eyes a return to the World Cup.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Inaki Williams' debut goal for the Black Stars clinched Ghana a hard-fought victory against Madagascar to get off to a winning start in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Athletic Club forward rose high to head home from a lovely cross from Gideon Mensah in the final minute of the game in Kumasi.
The visitors started the better of the two sides, getting two corner kicks in the first five minutes, but failed to take advantage of the set pieces.

Sports Brief also reported that Players of the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars have arrived in Kumasi ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Madagascar on Friday.
The squad led by captain Andre Ayew and the technical team touched down in Kumasi on Tuesday afternoon and will hold their first training later today.
The Black Stars open their qualifying campaign at home before travelling to the Comoros Islands three days later for their second Group I game.
