The 20-year-old England international becomes just the third English player to win the award after Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney in 2004 and Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling in 2014.

With 97% of the votes, Bellingham equals Kylian Mbappe's record. The PSG and French superstar won the 2017 award with the same margin in 2017.

The former Borussia Dortmund star beat the likes of Jamal Musiala, Xavi Simons and Benfica's Antonio Silva to win the award, per the Athletic.

Golden Boy Award has been given to the best player under the age of 21 by Italian outlet Tuttosport since 2003. Journalists vote for the winner.

Footballers Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Aguero, and Erling Haaland have won the award. Gavi won in 2022, while his Barcelona teammate won in 2021, per 90min.

Bellingham has made an electric start at Real Madrid with 13 goals and three assists in 14 games.

Bellingham wins Kopa Trophy

Sports Brief also previously reported on Bellingham claiming the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d'Or Awards gala event on Monday (October 30).

This prestigious accolade - reserved for the most outstanding footballer under the age of 21 - was presented to the Englishman at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

Bellingham's triumph signifies his status as the best-performing young player, outshining Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala and Barcelona's Alejandro Balde to win.

Bellingham’s mother helped him get dressed

Bellingham may be a talented footballer, but even the English star still needs his mother's help for certain things.

The Real Madrid star recently won the Kopa Trophy as the best young player in the world at the Ballon d’Or gala.

As Sports Brief earlier reported, behind-the-scenes footage showed Bellingham's mum helped get him ready for the night.
