  • Real Sociedad are reportedly interested in Thomas Partey
  • The Ghanaian international could leave Arsenal in January
  • Partey has only appeared in the EPL four times this season

Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey could return to Spain in the winter transfer window amid reported interest from La Liga outfit, Real Sociedad.

The UEFA Champions League campaigners are said to be preparing an ambitious bid for the 30-year-old Arsenal midfielder.

Partey has struggled with fitness since joining the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020.

The former star of the Rojiblancos is currently out with an injury and could possibly miss the rest of the year due to the setback.

However, according to Fihajes, Real Sociedad sees Partey as an ideal player for the club because of his experience in La Liga.

Before moving to England, he helped Atletico win La Liga and the UEFA Europa League as well as reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League twice.

Since the arrival of Declan Rice, the Ghanaian has been deployed as a right-back, indicating Mikel Arteta's preference for the Englishman in midfield.

Partey could cost Real Sociedad around €35 million - a fee the club is reportedly ready to pay for their main target in the winter transfer window.

Atletico Madrid and Juventus have also been reported to be interested in the Black Stars player, as reported by The Standard.

Partey ruled out of World Cup qualifiers

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the Black Stars of Ghana will miss Partey's services for the opening games of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Arsenal midfielder is currently out with an injury and his return date remains uncertain, with his country's campaign kicking off before long.

The 30-year-old scored the crucial goal that saw the Black Stars qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the expense of Nigeria's Super Eagles.

Arteta concerned about Partey's injury woes

Sports Brief also reported on Arsenal manager, Arteta expressing concern at Partey's injury status, with the Ghanaian stuck on the sidelines for some time.

He was ruled out of the Gunners' Carabao Cup game against West Ham United after picking an injury before their UEFA Champions League clash with Sevilla.

Partey has only seen 20 minutes of action after recovering from an injury that kept him out since August, coming on as a substitute against Manchester City.
