FootballJose Peseiro: Angry Nigerians Tell NFF to Sack Portuguese Tactician After Draw with Lesotho
- Jose Peseiro has managed just 6 wins in 13 matches since he was appointed
- Nigerians have been left furious following the draw with Lesotho in the World Cup qualifiers
- Fans are calling on the NFF to relieve the tactician of his coaching job
Nigerian fans have called on the sacking of Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro following their draw with Lesotho in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The Eagles have begun the World Cup qualifying series on a poor note after a 1-1 draw with the Crocodiles inside the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Jose Peseiro's side had to come from behind to force a draw in a game they dominated from start to finish.
It was Semi Ajayi's 67th-minute header that salvaged a draw for the Super Eagles after Motlomelo Mkwanazi gave the 153rd FIFA-ranked Crocodiles a shock lead.
Nigeria struggled to create chances upfront as they failed to string the right passes in the final third as it ended 1-1.
Since his appointment in May 2022, Peseiro has guided the team to just 6 wins in 13 matches, managing 2 draws and losing 5.
The result against Lesotho has left Nigerian fans furious as they have taken to social media to demand the coach's sacking.
One said:
"Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro after a disgraceful result against Lesotho. We had 76% ball possession to their 24%. We played against a team that had just two shots while we were unlucky in the attack.
”A second added:
"They need to sack this super eagles coach, just suit and vibes, zero football tactics and knowledge.
"Another wrote:
"Sharing points with Lesotho at home is sackable offence. Sack the Super Eagles head coach now."
