  • Real Madrid legend, Marcelo has shed light on how Cristiano Ronaldo once silenced Sepp Blatter
  • The controversial ex-FIFA boss appeared to mock the forward in an interview but later apologised
  • However, Ronaldo made sure Blatter ate humble pie for his remarks with his actions in the field

Marcelo Vieira has reminisced about Cristiano Ronaldo's reaction to former FIFA president, Sepp Blatter's remarks, recalling an incident from 2013.

At that time, the controversial former world football boss was asked about his personal preference between Lionel Messi and the Portuguese superstar.

Referring to Ronaldo, Blatter had remarked:

"The other one, this is something else. The other one is like a commander on the field of play."

He even attempted to imitate the forward and humorously mentioned his expenses on hairdressing compared to Messi, before stating his preference for the Argentine.

Marcelo: when Ronaldo responded to Blatter

Ronaldo caught wind of Blatter's comments and was not pleased.

He wrote, as cited by Givemesport: "This video shows clearly the respect and consideration that FIFA has for me, for my club, and my country. Much is explained now.
"I wish Mr Blatter health and a long life, with the certainty he will continue to witness, as he deserves, the successes of his favourite teams and players," he added.

Real Madrid hosted Sevilla two days later at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for their La Liga encounter.

The now-Al-Nassr captain netted a hat-trick in the 7-3 victory. His celebration after the first goal involved a salute, seemingly in response to Blatter's comments.

Marcelo recounts Ronaldo's hat-trick

Marcelo, who formed a lethal partnership with Ronaldo on the left flank during their stint with Los Blancos, recounted the incident.

"I forgot the guy's name at the time, the FIFA president [Blatter]. He gave an interview, saying that Cristiano was like a commander and that he was like that - like a general," he said, as quoted by TCR.
"I said [to Ronaldo], 'Let's have a celebration: we'll hit [their typical joint celebration], scream 'SIUUU' then we [do the salute]. He made a mess of things that day."

Sepp Blatter named among Ronaldo haters

In a previous report, Sports Brief listed seven top football personalities were named to be among Ronaldo’s haters, including former FIFA president, Blatter.

It is gathered that Gerard Pique dislikes him but that is to be expected because of their fierce rivalry in El Clasico ties during Ronaldo's time at Real Madrid.
