Mbappe and PSG had a highly publicised contract dispute in the summer. The club omitted him from their pre-season tour of Asia and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before he left.

There is no indication he will sign a new deal at Parc des Princes either. Real Madrid have been heavily linked with the Frenchman, and they tried to sign him last summer.

However, according to Sky Sports, the France captain told the Paris-based club he would not leave and was prepared to sit out the entire season.

Saudi Pro League side, Al-Hilal even made a world record €300 million bid to buy Mbappe, but a deal did not materialise.

Will Real Madrid sign Mbappe next year?

According to Spanish outlet, Diario AS, PSG will not give the French superstar a new deal, which opens a path for Real Madrid to sign him next summer.

However, the French giants want the World Cup winner to stay as they intend to build a short-term project around him.

The report adds that Mabppe is happy at the club since he gets to play his favourite position now that Neymar left the club to join Al-Hilal.

PSG were busy in the summer transfer market. They signed Ousmane Dembele, Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, Lucas Hernandez, and a few others.

Despite the off-season distractions, Mbappe is currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 13 goals.

Will Mbappe win Ballon d'Or in future?

Sports Brief earlier reported on PSG manager, Luis Enrique rating Mbappe's chances of winning the Ballon d'Or prior to the awards event on October 30.

Last month, he finished third behind the winner, Lionel Messi and his so-called rival Erling Haaland, but remains near the top after a World Cup hat-trick.
