Barcelona's legendary captain, Carles Puyol, made a surprise visit to his former club's Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training facility to watch players train.
Although league football has taken a break, the training session was attended by players like Alejandro Balde and Pedri, who recently made his return from injury.
The team did the training session under the watchful eyes of Xavi Hernandez. Barcelona have made a decent start to the season, although performances have not impressed a lot of their fans.
After training, Puyol emerged, greeted Barcelona players and even had a chat with Pedri. A moment later, he warmly embraced his former teammate and current boss, Xavi. The club's current players were definitely excited to meet one of the club's greatest players.
The two know each other very well. They played together at Barcelona for years and won the 2010 World Cup with Spain.
Puyol is considered one of the best centre-backs in the 21st century. He made 593 competitive appearances for Barca and won 26 major trophies with the club.
Xavi on Barcelona struggles
Barcelona have faced backlash from the media following their struggles in the league, and coach Xavi believes that criticism is starting to affect his players negatively, as Sports Brief earlier reported.
In their last game before the international break, they had to come from behind to beat Alaves on Sunday, November 12. Those underwhelming performances have happened frequently this season.
Barcelona are four points off the top spot in La Liga as the Catalans currently trail league leaders Girona, who have 34 points from 13 games, while Real Madrid are second with 32 points.
