FootballKane Names Best Defender: Bayern Munich Star Says Chelsea Legend is The Toughest
- Harry Kane is one of the best strikers of this generation although he has no trophies
- He spent years at Tottenham Hotspur before sealing a big transfer to Bayern Munich
- Kane has named the toughest defender he has ever faced - and it is a Chelsea legend
Chelsea legend, John Terry has been retired for years after a decorated career, yet is still getting plaudits from players he faced during his time on the pitch.
He is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation and arguably the greatest Premier League captain, spending most of his career at the Blues.
Terry has also been involved in the background at different football clubs since retiring, including the Blues academy and as a director for Saudi Arabian club, Al-Shabab.
Kane names Terry toughest defender
England captain Harry Kane, while answering 20 quick questions via ESPN UK, was asked about the toughest defender he had faced in his career - and Kane wasted no time listing Terry.
"I faced John Terry earlier in my career. I thought he was one of the best defenders in the world, really smart and intelligent," he said.
It was not the first time he talked with reverence about the former Chelsea captain. Per talkSPORT in 2022, he explained on Instagram why Terry was the best he faced.
"Just a really smart defender knew where to put his body, knew where to stop my runs, so that was a great learning curve," Kane said.
The three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner also disclosed David Beckham was his footballing hero as they were from the same community and attended the same school.
Kane also named his Bayern Munich teammate, Jamal Musiala as a player he would have loved to represent England. Musiala grew up in England but pledged allegiance to Germany.
