Algerian forward, Riyad Mahrez has claimed he has unfinished business with Manchester City despite leaving the treble winners in the summer transfer window to join Al-Ahli.
The 32-year-old had two years left on his contract but decided to sign for the Saudi Pro League giants when they came calling.
According to Mahrez, his limited role in the games through to the final of the UEFA Champions League meant he could not end his time at the English club the way he wanted to.
The Algerian was dropped from the starting XI for the clash against Real Madrid in the semi-final and was an unused substitute in the final against Inter Milan.
"To be honest, I still have a taste of unfinished business," Mahrez told L'Equipe. "In the Champions League, I did not play the semi-final or the final. In previous seasons, I always started in the Champions League while always being impactful for my team."
While the Al-Ahli winger did not feel things went badly in his last year with Man City, he admitted he was left with a sense of his business there being unfinished.
"I was offered four years in Saudi Arabia, in a Muslim country where I can definitely protect and provide for my family. There was also a new challenge and a new project. So, I decided to leave, it wasn't a big deal."
After his team won the Premier League five times, Mahrez left England as the African with the most EPL titles. His first league title was with Leicester City in 2016, as reported by The Guardian.
