Daily Star quoting The Athletic however believes that Cech might be starting in goal for Chelsea's development squad in their Premier League 2 match against Tottenham Hotspur at Kingsmeadow on Monday, December 14.

The publication added that the Champions League winner will most likely be standing in for the first choice keeper Lucas Bergstrom who featured for the Blues U18 on Saturday, December 12.

They are trying to avoid him (Lucas) playing two competitive games within the space of 48 hours meanwhile, Karlo Ziger who would have been another option is currently with Lampard’s first-team.

Cech has been training with the club's senior team since he was named by the manager as part of the squad for the 2020-21 season.

Although the legend is believed to be behind Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, or Willy Caballero in the pecking order at the Bridge. Meanwhile, Lampard said on Cech's involvement with his team:

“Pete’s been training with the goalkeepers for a little while now. We know this year looks like no other because of Covid and what it might do to selection with isolation, so it was a very easy one, Pete still does his day job but he’s there if we need him.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Olivier Giroud has stated that his best-headed goal in his career was against his former club Arsenal in the 2019 Europa League final.

The Frenchman broke the deadlock as the match ended in a 4-1 win for the Maurizio Sarri led Chelsea side.

Ironically, the Blues' current Sporting Director was in goal for the north London club before calling it quits and returning to Stamford Bridge to take up an administrative role.
