Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has maintained the fact that he is still the most successful and decorated Nigerian player of all time.
The former Super Eagles captain made the statement during a podcast session with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
Mikel Obi during his illustrious career played for Lyn Oslo, Chelsea, Stoke City, and others, but his time with the Blues was the most appreciated due to his achievement.
The former Nigerian international won all domestic titles with Chelsea alongside European ones but missed out on the UEFA Super Cup.
With the Nigerian national team, the legendary midfielder won the Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in 2013.
Mikel Obi, while speaking on Osimhen's achievement of being the highest-ranked Nigerian Ballon d’Or in history on Obi One Podcast, claimed the Napoli striker needs to break his record.
"I am still the most successful and decorated football player in Nigeria," he said.
"But he [Victor Osimhen] got an award that I never got. He was ranked number 8 in the world by Ballon d’Or. That’s absolutely amazing. I must say congratulations.
"The season you had, it was fantastic and I never got to that stage. You’ve raised the bar so high."

Mikel convinced Osimhen will join Chelsea
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Mikel Obi claiming that Osimhen would join the Blues in the next summer transfer windows.
