Mokwena: Sundowns Coach Talks Tough After Defeating Al-Ahly in the First Leg of AFL Semi-Final
FootballLehlohonolo Seema Resigns From Polokwane City to Possibly Take Sekhukhune United Job
- Lehlohonolo Seema has discontinued his association with Polokwane City
- He had spent 12 league matches with the club alongside Duncan Lechesa
- Fellow Polokwane team Sekhkhune United is Seema's reported destination
Top flight managers are tumbling like dominos. Polokwane City are the next club with a vacancy as they have announced the resignation of their head coach, Lehlonhonolo Seema.
The 43-year-old Lesotho national has had a positive time on the pitch this season, with Rise and Shine sixth on the log, just seven points behind the front-runners, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Seema is believed to be taking a greater challenge after being linked with Sekhukhune United. FARPost reported the apparent discontent over the weekend, quoting their source:
"We’re unsure if the coach will be with us tomorrow. We’ve just been told he’s tendered his resignation."
The news was confirmed on Monday afternoon and the wait is on to see if Seema succeeds Brandon Truter at Simon Malatji's Sekhukhune or moves on to another project.
The outgoing Polokwane boss ran the first team with co-coach, Duncan Lechesa until just a few weeks ago. Before Polokwane, Seema had kept relegation-threatened Chippa United in the DStv Premiership.
He is known to employ an attacking style, which he honed by progressing through the coaching ranks at Bloemfontein Celtic. He played 113 times for Celtic before spending five years at Orlando Pirates.
KickOff hinted that Seema may have left due to not being paid last month but the club said this was not the case. Speaking to KickOff, Polokwane's media liaison, Keke Mokoena said:
"I can't say much more than to say that the coach wants peace of mind. That is the reason he resigned."
Of the 16 DStv Premiership clubs, at least a third are currently sitting with vacancies or interim bosses.
