  • Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco scored a wonder goal on Sunday
  • The Nerazzuri emerged 2-0 winners over Frosinone to remain top of the table
  • Fans believe Dimarco’s goal is a contender for the Puskas award

Federico Dimarco scored an outrageous goal for Inter Milan as the Nerazzuri claimed a crucial 2-0 win over Frosinone on Sunday, November 12.

Inter went back to the top of the Serie A standings, and Dimarco’s wonder strike in the first half set them up for victory.

With the score 0-0, Dimarco ran with the ball just past the centre circle when he noticed the Frosinone goalkeeper was off his line.

Using his favourite left foot, he attempted an ambitious shot just below the crossbar to beat the goalkeeper. Frosinone goalie Stefano Turati was helpless.

The build-up to the goal was started by former Manchester United man Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who won possession inside Inter’s half and played it through to Dimarco.

According to Football Italia, the defender hit his shot from an impressive 61 yards.

We will never know whether he meant his shot or not, but that uncertainty does little to take away from the stunning nature of the strike.

Fans quickly likened the strike to that of Recoba, who struck a similar shot in 1998 against Empoli. His shot, however, was pretty close to the goal.

According to Transfermakt, Dimarco only scored eight goals in 100 appearances for Inter before his wonder goal, which will surely be the best of the bunch.

Inter extended their lead in the second half as Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored from the penalty spot in the 48th minute.

Thanks to the 2-0 win, Inter went two points clear of their closest rivals, Juventus.

Giroud sent off after a moment of madness

Sports Brief also reported on how Olivier Giroud was sent off for Milan after a moment of madness late in the game on Saturday, November 11.

The Frenchman stole headlines again for his team, but this time, it was for all the wrong reasons, as he was dismissed in the 93rd minute in the 2-2 draw against Lecce.

He initially gave his side the lead in the 28th minute as Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders made it 2-0 in 35 minutes.
