South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns have been crowned the winners of the 2023 African Football League after defeating Wydad AC in the final of the competition.
The defending Premier Soccer League champions defeated the Moroccan side 2-0 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Sunday, November 12.
The South Africans lost the first leg 2-1, but their second leg victory at home earned them a 3-2 aggregate win to secure the inaugural edition of the tournament.
The second leg was a feisty encounter, with the home side taking the lead through Namibian striker, Peter Shalulile a few minutes before the break.

Masandawana's bragging rights were crowned with a whopping sum of $4 million, which works out to R74mil, per a report by iDiskiTimes.
Wydad AC will receive $3mil (R55.6mil) for finishing second, the semi-finalists will receive $1.7mil (R31.5mil), and the quarter-finalists take home $1mil (R18.5mil).
